The current state of Pakistan’s economy is poor, with high taxes and a depreciating rupee driving up the cost of imported smartphones. In addition, these phones’ already expensive pricing are further increased by the expense of getting PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) approval, making it difficult for the common man to buy them.

But a new development might offer some relief to customers. Alfa Mall, owned by Bank Alfalah, is currently offering installment plans for PTA approval, but only for a few smartphone models. This applies to all iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Ultra.

Customers can now choose a payment plan and pay off the charges over a period of 3 to 6 months with 0% markup. PTA charges for these phones range from Rs. 130,000 to Rs. 190,000. The customer’s CNIC number and the phone’s IMEI code are the only things needed.

This development is positive for making cellphones more affordable for Pakistan’s general public, especially for those who can’t afford to pay the steep upfront costs.
