CHICHAWATNI: The Chacha Saif-ur-Rehman Memorial Football Championship, organised under the auspices of the Zamindara Muslim Football Club, opened with an exciting match between Chain Football Club 18/12-L, Chichawatni, and 38/EB Arifwala.
Prominent personalities and sports enthusiasts attended the opening ceremony. Among the special guests were Chaudhry Asim Hidayat Namberdar, Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif, Chairman Nawab Ashiq Ali Bhutto, Chaudhry Mujahid Ilyas, Rana Zahid Mahmood, Tariq Bobby and Subhan Ahmad.
The opening fixture produced a closely contested game as both teams showed impressive football skills and determination. The match remained competitive throughout the stipulated time, with both sides scoring one goal each.
After the score stood at 1-1 at the end of regular time, the result was decided through a penalty shootout.
In the shootout, 38/EB Arifwala converted eight penalties, while Chain Football Club 18/12-L, Chichawatni, scored seven. With the result, 38/EB Arifwala won the match with an overall score of 9-8.
