The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) carried out a targeted enforcement operation in Rawalpindi, sealing one plaza and six shops on Chakri Road and removing encroachments from G.T. Road as part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal construction and unauthorized commercial activity. The action, ordered by RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza, reinforces the authority’s commitment to upholding planning rules and maintaining public spaces.

Under the DG’s direction, the RDA Enforcement Squad identified and sealed a plaza and six shops on Chakri Road found to be operating or constructed illegally. Simultaneously, teams removed multiple encroachments along G.T. Road to restore public right-of-way and prevent further unauthorized occupation of the roadway.

The operation aligns with instructions from the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has directed a zero-tolerance policy toward illegal developments, encroachments, and unauthorized commercial activities. RDA officials stressed that these measures are part of a broader effort to enforce planning regulations consistently across the city.

Authorities warned that first information reports (FIRs) will be filed against violators and that strict, non-discriminatory action will follow to deter future offenses. The RDA said it remains committed to preserving law and order in designated development zones and promoting a clean, sustainable urban environment for Rawalpindi residents.

The enforcement action was carried out by Building Surveyor Aamir Mahmood alongside other RDA staff members. The authority said similar operations will continue as required to enforce regulations and protect public spaces.
