Pakistan Sweet Home founder Zamurrad Khan met with Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at Aiwan-e-Sadr to discuss the organization’s expanding social welfare work for orphans and vulnerable communities. The Acting President praised their efforts, and Khan outlined the charity’s growth from a single internally displaced child to a nationwide initiative, including a meal program serving thousands and relief for flood-affected areas. Several political leaders also paid separate calls on the Acting President, where prayers were offered for a deceased family member.

During the meeting, Mr Gilani welcomed the work of Pakistan Sweet Home and emphasized the need for sustained social welfare programmes to support the country’s most vulnerable citizens. He underscored the importance of continued public and private efforts to address poverty and displacement.

Zamurrad Khan described the organization’s origins, noting that Pakistan Sweet Home began in 2008 with a single internally displaced child under the patronage of then-Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. He said the initiative has since expanded into a nationwide effort providing shelter, care, and services to orphaned and underprivileged children.

Khan also briefed the Acting President on Syeda Fatima tuz Zahra Dastarkhwan, a program that provides free meals to more than 7,000 people daily. He said the Dastarkhwan is currently extending support to communities affected by recent floods, delivering food assistance to those displaced or otherwise impacted.

Following the meeting with Khan, former Deputy Chairman of the Senate Jan Muhammad Jamali, Senator Zarqa Suharwardy, former MNA Nadeem Afzal Chan and Muhammad Ashraf Waraich separately called on the Acting President. During these visits, prayers were offered for the departed soul of Tanvir ul Hassan Gilani, a cousin of the Acting President.
