Discover how UNICEF and NCRC report on displaced children in Pakistan will inform child-centred policies for education, health and protection.

UNICEF and the National Commission on the Rights of Child NCRC Pakistan launched a report and accompanying policy brief examining the situation of displaced and migrant children in Pakistan. The research highlights urgent gaps in access to education and healthcare and draws attention to elevated risks of exploitation facing displaced children across the country.

Supported by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Pakistan, the launch convened policymakers, UN agencies, civil society organisations and child protection actors to discuss practical measures for strengthening inclusive protection systems. Participants reviewed evidence from the report and explored how government and partners can align services to better reach displaced children and migrant families.

The findings underline widespread disruption to schooling, limited access to basic health services and protection shortfalls that increase vulnerability to abuse and exploitation. The report aims to provide evidence-based recommendations that will help shape child-centred policies, budgeting and programming so that displaced children can access learning, healthcare and safe environments.

Stakeholders emphasised that implementing the report’s guidance will require coordinated action across ministries, humanitarian actors and local organisations, with a focus on dignity and rights. The evidence is intended to support decision-making that expands opportunities and protection for displaced children throughout Pakistan.
