Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, met with the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 24, 2025.
The discussion covered a wide range of mutual interests, with both sides emphasising the long-standing Pakistan–UK partnership. The leaders spoke about strengthening trade and investment ties and enhancing cooperation in multilateral fora, reflecting a shared interest in closer coordination on regional and global developments.
Throughout the exchange, attention returned to Pakistan UK ties and the need to deepen the multifaceted relationship. The DPM and the UK Foreign Secretary exchanged views on how bilateral engagement can be broadened to support economic links and policy coordination at international bodies.
Senator Dar also highlighted the important role of the Pakistani diaspora in reinforcing people-to-people connections, underlining diaspora contributions to trade, investment and cultural bonds between Pakistan and the UK. Both sides signalled a commitment to sustained dialogue to build on these discussions following UNGA80.
