Senior Joint Secretary Aftab Rashid publicly vaccinated his daughter at an HPV vaccine seminar in Islamabad to boost parental confidence and uptake.

Senior Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Aftab Rashid, had his daughter vaccinated in front of parents and media during an Advocacy Seminar on HPV and cervical cancer at IMCG F-6/2, Street 25, Islamabad. The public vaccination was intended to demonstrate confidence in the immunization process and encourage families to consider protection against HPV for their children.

The event was organised by Jhpiego in collaboration with the District Health Office Islamabad and brought together educators, health officials and parents to discuss the importance of the HPV vaccine in preventing cervical cancer. Attendees heard from experts about vaccine safety and the role schools and families can play in increasing acceptance and coverage.

By choosing to vaccinate his daughter publicly, Mr. Rashid aimed to strengthen parental trust and highlight practical steps to improve vaccine uptake across the city. The seminar underscored the need for coordinated efforts between health and education authorities to protect girls and safeguard future family health.
