NTC Evaluates New Engineering Technology Programs

NTC evaluated Engineering Technology programs at IIUI's DECE, endorsing new AI and Cyber Security degrees and assuring support for program continuation.

The National Technology Council conducted an interim evaluation of the Bachelors of Engineering Technology (Computer) program and a zero visit for two newly launched Bachelors of Engineering Technology programs in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

The NTC delegation included Prof. Dr. Umair Abdullah (Convener and Expert: AI Technology), Prof. Dr. Saud Altaf (Expert: Computer Technology), Prof. Dr. Yasar Amin (Expert: Cyber Security Technology) and Hafiz Ghulam Muhammad as the NTC representative. They were received by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir, Dean FET and Director ORIC, Dr. Ihsan ul Haq, Chairman DECE, and Dr. Baber Khan, Incharge of Engineering Technology Programs.

The team reviewed program documentation, inspected classrooms and laboratories, and engaged in interactive sessions with faculty and students to assess curriculum alignment, laboratory readiness and student support services. Meetings with various administrative departments and a formal session with Prof. Dr. Abdul Raheman, Vice President Academics and Administration & Finance, provided further assurance on governance and resource planning for the new offerings.

The NTC delegation welcomed the university’s decision to introduce specialised Engineering Technology tracks in emerging fields, noting satisfaction with infrastructure and facilities available at IIUI. The evaluators pledged their support for the successful continuation of these Engineering Technology programs. The DECE leadership and staff reaffirmed their commitment to run the programs with high morale, dedication and a focus on quality outcomes for students.
