Australian High Commissioner meets Federal Minister Tarar to strengthen Australia Pakistan ties and advance human rights cooperation.

In Islamabad today the Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, H.E. Neil Hawkins, paid a farewell call on Federal Minister for Law and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, underscoring the close diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The minister welcomed the envoy and commended his contributions to deepening bilateral engagement, particularly in the field of human rights. Senator Tarar acknowledged the support extended by the Australian Government and stressed the importance of ongoing cooperation to promote inclusivity, diversity and the protection of fundamental rights across Pakistan.

During the meeting the minister briefed the High Commissioner on Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen its human rights framework, including the implementation of the National Action Plan on Human Rights and sustained measures to ensure protection and empowerment of vulnerable groups.

High Commissioner Neil Hawkins expressed his appreciation for the partnership developed during his tenure and reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to deepen cooperation on shared priorities such as human rights, equality and social justice. Both sides concluded the discussion by reiterating their resolve to enhance collaboration and build upon the longstanding Australia Pakistan relationship.
