He praised the National Disaster Management Authority for its response during recent floods and called for joint regional measures to mitigate the impact of climate change on shared economies and communities.
Addressing regional tensions, the Speaker strongly condemned human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the Israeli operations in Gaza, saying lasting peace is impossible without just resolutions of the Kashmir and Palestine disputes. He called on the international community and the Muslim Ummah to support the oppressed. On recent hostilities with India, he described Pakistan’s response as firm and balanced, noting that a ceasefire was reached upon India’s request and attributing the outcome to national unity and the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces.
On Afghanistan, the Speaker reiterated that Islamabad expects Kabul to ensure its territory is not used for terrorist activity, while reiterating Pakistan’s readiness to offer opportunities for trade, investment and economic cooperation. He pointed to upcoming parliamentary delegations from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Iran as evidence of growing international confidence in Pakistan’s democratic institutions.
In his remarks, Speaker Nuriddin Ismoilov thanked Pakistani hosts for their hospitality and commended Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for advancing parliamentary diplomacy. He recognised Pakistan’s strategic importance for regional trade corridors, energy cooperation and connectivity, noted shared experiences in counterterrorism, and described Pakistan’s diplomatic stance during recent tensions as balanced and admirable. He also urged a joint strategy to tackle environmental threats to the region’s stability and future.
Speaker Ismoilov welcomed the recent visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to Uzbekistan as a milestone that adds momentum to political, economic and parliamentary cooperation. He reaffirmed that relations between the two countries rest on brotherhood, mutual trust and shared interests, and said closer parliamentary ties will help strengthen bonds between the peoples of both nations.
The Uzbek delegation visited the corridors of Parliament House, inscribed remarks in the official guest book and exchanged souvenirs as part of the visit, leaving both sides committed to promoting peace, regional integration and joint prosperity through enhanced parliamentary and institutional engagement.
