CNS Hockey action in Lahore: Army beat Rangers 5-2 while NBP and Port Qasim drew 3-3 at the 4th CNS Hockey Tournament, semis set for Oct 3.

Action at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore produced two compelling encounters on Wednesday as the 4th Chief of the Naval Staff All Pakistan Hockey Tournament continued, with CNS Hockey spotlighting both tight defence and free-flowing attack.

Port Qasim Authority and National Bank of Pakistan played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in the opening fixture. Aleem Usman led the Port Qasim fight with a fine brace and team-mate Amjad added a vital third, while NBP relied on a rich attacking display from Faizan who scored twice and Aamir who grabbed the equaliser. Some resolute defending and a string of outstanding stops kept the scoreboard level, and NBP custodian Mazhar Abbas earned the man of the match award for his commanding presence between the posts.

The later match saw Pakistan Army assert control with a comprehensive 5-2 victory over Pakistan Rangers. Army’s goals were shared by Shahzad, Ahmed Sarwar, Usman, Saaifullah and Wasim Akram, reflecting a balanced and relentless attacking display. Rangers responded through Ammar and Hamid Ali, but could not match the Army’s tempo. Midfielder Zain Farooq was named man of the match after he anchored the Army’s midfield and controlled transitions throughout.

The tournament observes a rest day on Thursday, with semi-finals scheduled for Friday, October 3, 2025, keeping CNS Hockey momentum alive as Navy face PAF and Mari Energies meet Customs in fixtures that will decide the finalists.
