Top junior talent lit up the courts on day five of the SICAS U18 Punjab Junior Tennis Championship at the Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Lahore, with 20 matches played across age groups.
Asad Zaman produced a commanding performance in the boys U-18 singles semifinal, defeating Ahmad Fareed Yawar 6-2, 6-0 to book his place in the final. In the other singles semi, Amir Mazari was equally dominant, defeating Abdullah Pirzada 6-0, 6-2 to set up a highly anticipated SICAS U18 final between the two rising stars.
The boys U-18 doubles semifinals also served up quality tennis as Amir Mazari paired with Haroon Arif to beat Romail Shahid and Faizan Haider 6-3, while the team of Asad Zaman and Abdullah Pirzada eased past Salar and Muaz 6-1, confirming an exciting doubles final.
In the boys U-14 category Ohad e Mustafa overcame Muhammad Muaz 4-1, 5-3, and M Umar Ali staged a gritty comeback to defeat Muhammad Aayan 1-4, 4-1, 5-3. The boys U-12 semifinal saw Muhammad Aayan of Fatima Group record a straight-set win over Mustafa Uzair Rana 4-0, 4-0.
On the girls’ side Aiman Rehan showed resilience in the Girls U-12 semifinal, recovering from a set down to edge past Eman Shahbaz 0-4, 4-0, 5-3 in a closely contested match.
Among the senior events, the 45-plus doubles semifinals produced decisive results as Talha Waheed and Ashar Khan outclassed Dr. Arif and Arif Feroze 8-2, while the pairing of Sheheryar Salamat and Hadi Hussain defeated Hasan Said and Qadir Nawaz 8-4.
All finals across categories will be played today at the Punjab Tennis Academy, with the prize distribution ceremony to be presided over by Mr. Sheheryar Salamat, Director of SICAS, as chief guest. The SICAS U18 final between Asad and Amir will be the centrepiece of a busy closing day.
