A three-day Balochistan Grand Tourism Festival opens today at Lok Virsa in Islamabad, with the event scheduled to be inaugurated by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti. The festival is designed to present Balochistan’s culture and heritage on a national stage and offer Islamabad residents a close look at the province’s artistic traditions.
The launch was announced at the National Press Club in Islamabad by Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism Nawabzada Mir Muhammad Zarin Khan Magsi, who was joined by Secretary Tourism Balochistan Sohail ur Rehman and other officials. Organised in collaboration between the federal Ministry of Tourism and Culture, PTDC and Lok Virsa, the event marks a joint effort to promote Balochistan Tourism and foster wider cultural appreciation.
During the three-day festival, folk artists will perform traditional music and dance while theatre groups will stage plays reflecting regional narratives and customs. Balochistan artwork will be displayed across the venue and noted personalities will take part in panel discussions to explore cultural preservation, tourism opportunities and the province’s evolving image.
Secretary Sohail ur Rehman noted that this is the 39th programme arranged within available budgetary limits and emphasised the importance of federal and provincial coordination. Organisers said the festival will travel to Karachi and other cities after Islamabad, aiming to give a broader national audience a positive and vibrant view of Balochistan. Officials added that government policy and facilitation are key to showcasing the province and that visitors can expect a lively cultural experience throughout the event.
