Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, while attending the 2025 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, met with Mr. Hiroshi Matano, Executive Vice President of MIGA. He expressed appreciation for MIGA support in ongoing arbitration matters and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding both investor confidence and national interests.
Aurangzeb welcomed MIGA’s proposal for a short-term trade finance facility to ensure access to critical imports such as food, fertilizer, energy and essential machinery, and he emphasized the importance of its timely implementation to support economic stability and supply continuity.
He also acknowledged MIGA’s continued support for Pakistan’s power transmission and distribution sectors, noting that such backing plays a key role in sustaining investor confidence while advancing the country’s infrastructure priorities.
The discussion highlighted Pakistan’s focus on protecting national interests alongside creating an enabling environment for investment, with continued MIGA support seen as an important element of that strategy.
