PAF’s JF-17 Thunder Block-III Jets Land in Azerbaijan for Bilateral Air Exercise Indus Shield Alpha
Rawalpindi, October 19, 2025 —A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) contingent equipped with the state-of-the-art JF-17 Thunder Block-III fighter jets and supported by experienced air and ground crew has landed in Azerbaijan to participate in the bilateral aerial combat exercise “Indus Shield Alpha.”
In a remarkable demonstration of operational capability and endurance, the PAF aircraft completed a non-stop flight from Pakistan to Azerbaijan, successfully conducting in-flight air-to-air refuelling with precision. The refuelling mission was carried out flawlessly by PAF’s IL-78 aerial tanker, reaffirming the long-range strike capability of the JF-17 Thunder Block-III and showcasing the professional excellence, discipline, and readiness of PAF aircrew for extended international operations.
The Indus Shield Alpha exercise aims to enhance mutual understanding, tactical coordination, and interoperability between the air forces of Pakistan and Azerbaijan. It will focus on modern air combat tactics, joint mission planning, and real-time execution, reflecting the dynamic challenges of contemporary aerial warfare shaped by rapid technological advances and evolving strategic environments.
According to ISPR, the exercise serves as an important platform for professional exchange and the strengthening of defence cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
