Pakistan Confirms OIC Women Conference Preparations

Pakistan accelerates preparations for the OIC women conference in early 2026, pledging coordination with OIC partners and a stronger focus on gender equality.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad to review preparations for the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women, which Pakistan will host in early 2026. The meeting concentrated on logistical planning and thematic priorities for the OIC women conference to ensure a successful outcome.

The DPM/FM reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the conference and emphasized the country’s determination to advance women’s issues within the OIC framework. He highlighted Pakistan’s proactive role in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment and stressed the need for close coordination with OIC partners to translate shared objectives into concrete initiatives.

Participants included the Federal Ministers for Law and Justice and for IT and Telecommunication, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, the Secretaries of the Cabinet Division, Human Rights, and Information, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the OIC, and senior officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Human Rights. Discussions focused on policy alignment, stakeholder engagement, and operational steps required ahead of the conference.

Officials noted that hosting the OIC women conference presents an opportunity for Pakistan to shape regional dialogue on gender equality and women’s empowerment. The Islamabad meeting on October 22, 2025, reaffirmed a collective commitment to sustained preparation and effective coordination with the OIC to achieve the conference objectives.
