WFP Country Director visits Rescue 1122 HQ to review Flood Rescue Operation 2025 and integrated emergency management for Rescue 1122.

Ms. Coco Ushiyama, Country Director of the World Food Programme, visited the Emergency Services Academy and Rescue 1122 Headquarters in Punjab and held discussions with Dr Rizwan Naseer, Secretary Emergency Services, Punjab. During the visit she received a detailed briefing on the Rescue 1122 Integrated Emergency Management System, the Emergency Management Dispatch System (EMDS), the Flood Rescue Operation 2025 and the ongoing training for emergency services from all provinces of Pakistan.

Ms. Ushiyama praised the Flood Rescue Operation 2025 and highlighted the effectiveness of Rescue 1122’s integrated approach to preparedness, response and prevention. She noted the value of the Emergency Services Academy’s training efforts and the Community Safety Program as critical components of wider disaster risk reduction in Punjab and across the country.

Representatives from Rescue 1122 and the World Food Programme agreed to strengthen collaboration to enhance community preparedness, improve response capacities and build resilience against future hazards. The partners discussed expanding joint activities that support training, coordination and operational readiness at provincial and national levels.

The visit underscored the importance of continued United Nations engagement with Pakistani emergency services to support life-saving operations and capacity building. Rescue 1122’s systems and recent flood response were highlighted as key models for coordinated action between government agencies and humanitarian partners.
