PTA and Climate Ministry sign MoU to advance green digital infrastructure and sustainable innovation in Pakistan, enabling eco-friendly telecom solutions nationwide.

Islamabad (28th October, 2025) The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination signed a memorandum of understanding to promote eco-friendly digital infrastructure and sustainable innovation across Pakistan. The MoU establishes a collaborative framework to align telecommunications oversight with environmental priorities.

Under the agreement the partners will work to advance green digital infrastructure by encouraging energy efficient networks, environmentally conscious deployment of telecom assets and support for technology solutions that reduce carbon impact. The focus on green digital infrastructure is intended to integrate regulatory guidance, technical cooperation and pilot initiatives to nurture sustainable innovation in the sector.

The collaboration is intended to help Pakistan meet evolving sustainability expectations while enabling modern digital services. By prioritizing greener networks and sustainable innovation the MoU seeks to create a roadmap for reducing the environmental footprint of the communications ecosystem and supporting local green technology development.

The Islamabad signing lays the groundwork for coordinated action between regulators and climate authorities with practical measures expected to follow through joint programs, capacity building and policy coordination across federal and provincial stakeholders.
