NARI Foundation and ARI, in collaboration with ICMA Sukkur Campus and Government Boys Vocational Institute Sukkur, organized an awareness session aimed at promoting a smoke-free Pakistan. The event focused on the harmful effects of smoking on individual health as well as the wider environmental damage caused by tobacco, linking these concerns to Sustainable Development Goal 3 for good health and well-being and SDG 13 on climate action.
Speakers highlighted immediate and long-term health risks, including respiratory and cardiovascular impacts, and explained how tobacco emissions affect air quality and contribute to environmental degradation. Students and community members in Sukkur were encouraged to quit smoking and support local initiatives that foster healthier lifestyles and stronger community resilience against tobacco-related harms.
Organizers emphasized that small community actions can add up to national change and expressed hope that similar awareness activities will spread across Pakistan. By choosing to quit smoking, individuals can improve personal health while helping protect the environment, reinforcing Pakistan’s progress toward SDG 3 and SDG 13 and moving the country closer to a sustainable, smoke-free future.
