Mr. Muhammad Ali Commissioner Punjab Social Security, together with the Project Manager of the International Labour Organization, visited the Health Services Academy Islamabad and was welcomed by Prof Dr Shahzad Ali Khan Vice Chancellor of HSA. The delegation held detailed discussions on strengthening healthcare delivery for workers and their families in Punjab’s industrial zones.
The meeting centred on practical strategies to expand access to quality healthcare, with Punjab Social Security and ILO representatives exploring ways to bolster social protection mechanisms and introduce sustainable health initiatives tailored for labour communities. Participants emphasised targeting services to meet the needs of vulnerable households in factory and industrial areas.
Prof Dr Shahzad Ali Khan reaffirmed HSA’s commitment to partner with national agencies and international organisations to promote health equity. HSA will support evidence based planning, capacity building and operational research to ensure that interventions reach those most in need and improve occupational health outcomes for workers.
Both sides agreed to continue joint efforts in designing and implementing programmes that strengthen occupational health and welfare services. The visit underscored the importance of collaboration between government institutions and international partners to enhance the wellbeing of Pakistan’s workforce and their families.
