TİKA and Punjab's Department of Tourism sign MoU to restore Javed Manzil, preserving Allama Iqbal's legacy and reinforcing Turkey Pakistan cultural ties.

TİKA and the Government of Punjab’s Department of Tourism, Archaeology and Museums have signed a memorandum of understanding to restore Javed Manzil, the cherished residence of Pakistan’s national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal. The partnership aims to rehabilitate the site as a protected cultural asset while honouring the poet’s memory and influence.

The initiative is described by officials as more than a conservation project; it is an expression of remembrance and gratitude to a towering thinker whose message emphasised the power of unity. As Iqbal himself wrote, “Alone we can smile, but together we can laugh; alone we can enjoy, but together we can celebrate; without one another we are nothing.” That sentiment underscores the shared spirit behind the collaboration between Turkey and Pakistan.

By pooling resources and expertise for the Javed Manzil restoration, the partners seek to safeguard a site of national significance and to reaffirm the enduring bond between the two countries. The agreement also serves as a tribute to Iqbal, who stood with Turkey in testing times, and as a practical step toward preserving cultural heritage for future generations.
