Pakistan Pre COP30 dialogue gathers Red Cross partners, policymakers and experts to turn climate policy into practice ahead of COP30 in Brazil.

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society hosted the Pakistan Pre COP30 national dialogue at its National Headquarters in Islamabad in partnership with the German Red Cross, centring discussions on the theme From Policy to Practice Pakistan’s Voice for COP30 in Brazil. The meeting brought together humanitarian and climate stakeholders to refine how Pakistan’s policy positions can be translated into actionable measures ahead of the global summit.

Senator Sherry Rehman, chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change, attended as chief guest and underscored the need for concrete follow‑through on commitments. Mrs. Farzhana Naek, chairperson of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, highlighted the organisation’s role in mobilising communities and coordinating with partners to ensure that Pakistan Pre COP30 priorities reflect on‑the‑ground realities.

Delegations from the Turkish Red Crescent, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Norwegian Red Cross, the IFRC and the German Red Cross joined climate experts, PRCS staff, volunteers and students to discuss avenues for cooperative action. Participants emphasised practical interventions, from community resilience projects to strengthened early warning systems, that embody the transition from policy discussion to concrete implementation.

The dialogue focused on raising Pakistan’s voice for COP30 while ensuring that commitments are tied to measurable outcomes. Young volunteers and students contributed local perspectives on adaptation needs, reinforcing the message that effective climate policy must be rooted in community experience and capacity building.

Organisers said the Pakistan Pre COP30 event will inform PRCS advocacy and programming as the country prepares for COP30 in Brazil, with an emphasis on collaboration among humanitarian actors and policy makers to turn national climate strategies into tangible action at provincial and local levels.
