Federal Health Minister urges removal of hurdles to boost organ transplant and donations, calling for transparent, timely treatment for patients.

Syed Mustafa Kamal chaired a high-level meeting at the Ministry of National Health in Islamabad to push forward Pakistan’s organ transplant agenda. Administrator HOTA, the Additional Secretary, the Joint Secretary Administration and other senior ministry officials attended the session to review current barriers and next steps for expanding organ transplant services across the country.

The federal minister stressed the need to remove administrative and legal complexities to encourage organ donation and to ensure deserving patients receive timely treatment. He emphasised that strengthening organ transplant infrastructure and improving public confidence in donation processes are essential to increase donation trends nationwide.

Specific directions were given to simplify and make bone marrow transplant regulations more workable to reduce delays in approvals and clinical procedures. The minister asked relevant departments to identify bottlenecks in the approval chain and implement immediate measures to streamline processes for bone marrow and other organ transplants.

Authorities were instructed to enhance their performance and introduce transparent mechanisms so the organ transplant system becomes more effective and accountable. The minister underlined that promoting organ donation is both a national priority and an ethical responsibility to protect human lives, urging swift action from all involved institutions.
