APT visit boosts regional ICT cooperation as Secretary General Masanori Kondo met PTA leaders in Islamabad to discuss digital inclusion, innovation and collaboration.

Islamabad, 4 November 2025 — His Excellency Mr. Masanori Kondo, Secretary General of the Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT), paid an official visit to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority headquarters in Islamabad. He was accompanied by PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez ur Rehman, HI (M), SI, Authority members Muhammad Naveed (Member Finance) and Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar (Member Enforcement and Compliance), along with senior officers from the Authority.

The discussions during the APT visit focused on strengthening regional cooperation and enhancing digital leadership across South Asia. Delegates exchanged views on innovation, ICT transformation, digital inclusion and the role of emerging technologies in creating a more connected future for the region.

Chairman PTA reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to collaborative frameworks that support smart initiatives and broaden access to digital services nationwide. The meeting underscored the importance of regulatory coordination and shared learning to accelerate responsible technological adoption.

Both sides agreed to continue technical exchanges and coordination to translate dialogue into practical steps that advance connectivity, promote equitable digital access and reinforce regulatory alignment across the region.
