The Pakistan Sports Board welcomed the Asian Football Confederation leadership on an official AFC visit to Pakistan as State Guests of the Government of Pakistan, underscoring a renewed focus on strengthening ties between the AFC and local football authorities.
AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John arrived in Pakistan on November 3, followed by His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, President of the AFC and FIFA Senior Vice President, who arrived on November 4. Their arrival marked the start of a high-level delegation visit intended to deepen collaboration with Pakistani football stakeholders.
Both dignitaries were received at the airport by Deputy Director General, Pakistan Sports Board, Mr Muhammad Shahid, together with President of the Pakistan Football Federation, Mr Syed Mohsen Gilani, and senior representatives from the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination. The coordinated reception highlighted the significance of the AFC visit for national football governance.
The Pakistan Sports Board described the visit as a milestone for football cooperation, noting that such engagements with the AFC are important for advancing the sport across Pakistan. The AFC visit is expected to reinforce ties between national and regional football bodies and support ongoing efforts to promote the game at all levels in the country.
