Dr Furqan Rao, Executive Director of the Center for Democracy and Climate Studies, engaged with students of International Relations, Journalism and Political Science at RUDN University (Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia) in Moscow. The visit brought together emerging scholars and practitioners for an open conversation on contemporary media challenges.
During a lecture on Pakistan’s Media Landscape and the Role of Social Media in Spreading Fake News, Dr Rao explored how Pakistan media navigates digital platforms and the risks posed by misinformation. He examined the dynamics of online information flow, the responsibilities of journalists and the implications of fake news for public trust.
Grateful to RUDN University for the opportunity to share insights, Dr Rao highlighted the importance of media literacy and constructive dialogue between students and professionals. The session emphasised practical steps to strengthen Pakistan media resilience and encouraged continued exchange of ideas with the next generation of leaders and changemakers.
