Pakistan joins France, Germany and the Netherlands to mark the International Day to End Impunity, reaffirming press freedom and safety for journalists.

Marking the International Day to End Impunity, a joint event organised with France, Germany and the Netherlands in collaboration with Freedom Network reaffirmed a shared commitment to safety for journalists and a free, reliable press in Pakistan.

Participants highlighted the urgent need to tackle impunity for crimes against media workers and called for stronger protections, timely investigations and accountability. They stressed that press freedom underpins transparent governance and an informed public, and that protecting journalists is central to preserving democratic discourse.

The international collaboration underlined continued support for local media and the importance of sustained cooperation to improve media protection measures. Speakers urged authorities, civil society and media organisations to keep working together to ensure that press freedom and journalist safety remain priorities in Pakistan.
