Major General (R) Hafeez Rahman, chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, has been elected president of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators Council during a high-level SATRC meeting held in Islamabad.
The appointment of the PTA Chairman came by unanimous decision of representatives from South Asian countries, with the council session continuing in the capital through 7 November as a three-day international event hosted by the PTA.
Regulators, industry leaders and technical experts from across the region participated in discussions aimed at strengthening digital transformation and advancing sustainable ICT development. Delegates explored opportunities for cooperation using modern technologies to address regional connectivity and service quality challenges.
The newly elected PTA Chairman Hafeez Rahman underlined his commitment to comprehensive digital progress across the South Asian region, saying Pakistan will actively promote regional collaboration through the adoption of innovative solutions and shared regulatory approaches.
By hosting the SATRC meeting in Islamabad, Pakistan reaffirmed its role in fostering telecommunication cooperation, encouraging investment in digital infrastructure and supporting initiatives that drive inclusive and sustainable ICT growth across the region.
