The Federal Directorate of Immunization (FDI), in partnership with UNICEF and Gavi, today handed over 118 mobile vans to Provincial and Area EPI teams to deliver essential health and immunization services to underserved communities across Pakistan. These mobile vans are intended to reach remote, urban and peri-urban populations that have limited access to routine vaccinations and maternal and child health care.

The launch ceremony was attended by Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal, who formally handed over keys to EPI provincial managers. Senior officials present included Dr. Soofia Yunus, Director General FDI; Ms. Sharmeela Rasool, OIC/Deputy Representative UNICEF Pakistan; Mr. Gunter Boussery, Chief of Health, UNICEF Pakistan; and Mr. Sunday Audu, OIC WHO.

Under the Federal Health Ministerโ€™s vision, the mobile vans will bring life-saving vaccines, maternal and child health services and nutrition support directly to families, ensuring no child is left behind. The initiative aims to strengthen routine immunization coverage and improve access to healthcare for marginalized communities across the country.

With these 118 mobile vans, we are taking health and immunization services to every corner of the country, ensuring a healthier and protected future for all children, said Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal. For information on the 13 vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) and related services people can call FDIโ€™s toll-free helpline at 1166.

The handover marks a coordinated effort between federal and provincial health authorities, UNICEF and Gavi to expand outreach capacity and support Pakistanโ€™s EPI teams in delivering targeted vaccination and child health interventions where they are needed most.
