Rawalpindi: The Vice Chancellor of Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) visited the ongoing Wheat Campaign 2025, a joint initiative by PMAS-AAUR and the Directorate of Agriculture (Extension), Government of Punjab, conducted under directions from the Secretary Agriculture, Punjab. The visit drew a large gathering of farmers from surrounding areas who came to learn about practical steps to improve wheat production.
In his address the Vice Chancellor urged farmers to adopt modern, evidence-based methods to raise per-acre yields. He emphasised climate-smart cultivation, efficient irrigation techniques and the balanced use of fertilizers as core components of the Wheat Campaign message, noting that these measures are essential for sustainable food security in Punjab.
The university reiterated its commitment to close the gap between research and practice by providing hands-on training and field demonstrations. PMAS-AAUR agricultural experts and field teams have been running awareness sessions across multiple regions as part of the Wheat Campaign, offering farmers direct access to scientific guidance and crop management demonstrations.
The Vice Chancellor praised the efforts of university specialists and extension staff for their active participation in the campaign, describing such collaborative initiatives as pivotal to empowering farming communities. The Wheat Campaign 2025 aims to deliver practical training, field demonstrations and technical support so farmers can adopt modern, sustainable practices and improve wheat productivity across the province.
