The Inter Boards Coordination Commission has announced an exemption of the equivalence fee for Palestinian students studying in Pakistan, citing the severe humanitarian crisis in Palestine and the economic hardships faced by families there. The move aims to provide immediate relief and ensure continuity of educational activities for affected students, making the equivalence fee barrier less burdensome at a critical time.
According to the IBCC spokesperson, Pakistan has consistently expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people and views facilitating the education of their children as a moral obligation. The exemption of the equivalence fee is intended to support Palestinian families and preserve the educational progress of their children who are pursuing studies in Pakistan.
Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, IBCC Executive Director, said the decision follows special instructions from the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, with the objective of easing access to higher education. He added that the Ministry has issued directives to resolve administrative issues faced by Palestinian students to ensure smoother academic processes.
Dr. Mallah emphasized that in difficult circumstances education strengthens youth and opens pathways to a better future. The IBCC stated that facilitating Palestinian students reflects Pakistan’s principled stance and commitment to humanitarian values, and that authorities will continue to provide educational support to Palestinian students during these challenging times.
