Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) and the Women Development Department Government of Balochistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Women Expo Balochistan to strengthen women’s protection, advance GBV prevention and address child marriage with support from UNFPA Pakistan.
The partnership will work to improve policy frameworks and expand access to gender based violence services while promoting evidence based research and advocacy. Joint efforts will include development of strategic guidance to address domestic violence, strengthening coordination among multisectoral stakeholders, and improving public awareness through responsible media engagement, all aimed at enhancing GBV prevention across the province.
Capacity building and specialized trainings for relevant government departments, service providers and community actors will be central to the agreement to improve response mechanisms for gender based violence and child protection. The MoU was signed on behalf of SPO by Mr. Mir Ahmed Sami, Regional Manager SPO, and on behalf of WDD by Ms. Rubina Zehri, Manager Women Crisis Centre Quetta. Secretary Women Development Department Ms. Saira Atta, Provincial Team Lead UNFPA Ms. Sadia Atta, and National Program Manager SPO Ms. Rabia Khan were also present, underscoring a shared commitment to advancing women’s rights and a safer, more inclusive society in Balochistan.
