Pakistan Iran consultations in Islamabad advance trade, energy and connectivity cooperation; officials agree closer institutional coordination and future talks in Tehran.

The 13th round of Pakistan Iran consultations convened in Islamabad on 17 November 2025, bringing together senior officials from both capitals to review progress and map a forward agenda for bilateral ties. The Pakistan delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, while the Iranian side was headed by Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi.

Participants held comprehensive discussions across the full spectrum of relations and assessed implementation of decisions taken at the previous Bilateral Political Consultations. Both sides placed particular emphasis on measures to enhance and diversify bilateral trade and on expanding cooperation in energy, transport connectivity, education and people-to-people exchanges, reflecting shared priorities for practical engagement.

Officials exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest and underlined the need for regular convening of established institutional mechanisms, including the Joint Economic Commission and the Joint Trade Committee, to translate political commitments into concrete projects. The two sides also reaffirmed their intention to continue close coordination at multilateral fora such as the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Economic Cooperation Organization.

Delegates described the consultations as a reflection of close, brotherly relations rooted in shared history, culture and faith, and agreed to sustain momentum through enhanced dialogue and cooperation. It was decided that the next round of Pakistan Iran consultations will be held in Tehran on mutually convenient dates, with both capitals committed to follow up on agreed steps to deepen ties.
