Diabetes Symposium at Saleem Memorial unites experts on World Diabetes Day to share advances in detection, defence and treatment.

A Diabetes Symposium took place at Saleem Memorial Hospital in Lahore on World Diabetes Day, jointly organised by Saleem Memorial Hospital and the Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine. The event brought clinicians and specialists together to focus on improved detection and management of diabetes in the local context.

The concluding session, titled 3 D Diabetes (Detect, Defend and Defeat Diabetes), featured Prof Dr Khalid Masood Gondal, President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, as the chief guest. In his remarks he highlighted the role of specialist training in improving diabetes care across Pakistan.

Speakers including Prof Dr Javed Akram, former Punjab Minister for Health, Prof Aftab Mohsin, Prof Tariq Waseem and Dr Somia Iqtadar discussed the latest updates and recent advances in diabetes diagnosis, treatment and long term management. Panel discussions emphasised practical measures clinicians can adopt to strengthen patient outcomes.

Prof Gondal drew attention to the contributions of CPSP in producing qualified specialists, with particular reference to adult and paediatric endocrinology, noting that enhanced specialist capacity is essential for meeting rising care needs. The Diabetes Symposium served as a platform for knowledge exchange relevant to practitioners and patients across Lahore and the wider region.
