Pakistan's Go Blue campaign lights landmarks for World Children's Day, spotlighting child rights and youth voices across provinces.

The Ministry of Human Rights, in collaboration with UNICEF, turned key landmarks across Pakistan blue as part of a nationwide Go Blue campaign to mark World Children’s Day on 20 November. The visual initiative aimed to draw attention to the importance of investing in every child’s well‑being, safety and future while highlighting the role children can play in shaping public life.

Children were invited to step into symbolic roles at provincial assemblies, where they spoke about their lives, their hopes and their rights. The event gave young people a platform to express how everyday decisions made by adults shape their opportunities and to call for spaces where they can be heard and included in decisions that affect them.

Federal Minister for Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, said that Pakistan celebrates its children, their dreams and limitless potential, stressing that every child deserves a safe, nurturing and empowering environment. He described the Go Blue campaign as a reminder of the country’s shared responsibility to protect and promote child rights.

UNICEF Youth Advocate Taqwa Ahmed urged leaders to listen to young voices, saying children imagine a Pakistan where every child is safe, included, learning and heard. She noted that real, lasting change begins when children are empowered to lead and when adults choose to listen to their priorities.

UNICEF, together with the Ministry of Human Rights, illuminated 18 prominent buildings across the country as part of the Go Blue campaign. Pernille Ironside, UNICEF Representative in Pakistan, said turning the country blue is a unifying moment to remind everyone that children deserve opportunity, dignity and the space to be heard.

The campaign also highlighted that children under 18 make up a large share of Pakistan’s population and human capital, reinforcing calls for concerted action from national authorities to household levels. By putting child rights at the center of public attention, the Go Blue campaign sought to renew momentum for policies and investments that allow every child to reach their full potential.
