UNICEF joined the National Commission on the Rights of Child to mark a vibrant World Childrens Day celebration that brought young voices and creative expression to the forefront of national conversation.
Young participants who travelled from across Pakistan showcased powerful theatre performances and delivered thought-provoking messages at a Youth Parliament, while a special new song on digital safety was written and performed by children themselves, highlighting how the World Childrens Day platform can advance child-led advocacy.
The confidence, courage and clarity shown by the children underscored why child rights must shape discussions and decisions affecting their lives. Presentations and performances reflected diverse perspectives from public, private and special educational institutions and from the NCRC Child Advisory Panel.
UNICEF expressed deep gratitude to NCRC Chairperson Ayesha Raza Farooq for her leadership and thanked all partners and supporters who joined the event, including civil society and government representatives.
The celebration was honoured by remarks from Barrister Aqeel Malik, Minister of State for Law and Justice, and Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister for Human Rights and Law and Justice, whose comments reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing child rights in Pakistan and strengthening protections for children online and offline.
As this World Childrens Day showed, keeping children at the centre of policy and practice is essential to building a Pakistan where every child is included, protected and empowered, and UNICEF remains committed to supporting child-led initiatives and partnerships that make that vision real.
