A one-day provincial consultation convened on 24 November 2025 at Serena Hotel Peshawar to develop the first draft of the Monitoring Mechanism Framework under the Domestic Violence Act (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa). The meeting focused on practical steps to operationalize Domestic Violence Monitoring across the province.

The consultation was organized by Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) with technical support from UNFPA Pakistan, in collaboration with the Social Welfare, Special Education & Women Empowerment Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office under the flagship Aawaz-II Program. Participants worked collectively to outline mechanisms that will improve reporting, oversight and protection for survivors as part of an effective Domestic Violence Monitoring system.

The event was honoured by the presence of Ms. Rozina Rehman, District & Session Judge, Peshawar, who attended as the chief guest, and Mehwish Muhib Kaka Khel, Advocate & Legal Consultant at SPO. Ms. Mahjabeen Qazi, Provincial Program Coordinator KP, UNFPA, also shared important remarks during the session, emphasizing coordination and capacity building for a robust Domestic Violence Monitoring framework.

Organisers said the draft framework is a step toward strengthening protection mechanisms and advancing safer communities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with further consultations planned to refine the provisions and implementation arrangements under the Domestic Violence Act.
