Ahsan Iqbal urges focus on exports, tech, energy, green infrastructure and health to achieve three trillion economy and lasting growth.

Professor Ahsan Iqbal addressed the Gilgit-Baltistan bureaucracy, outlining a strategic vision that places five priority sectors at the center of Pakistan’s economic recovery and long-term growth. He said the country’s economic indicators are now improving and that the economy has moved away from the brink and onto a steadier path.

Credit for this positive turn, he added, goes to Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership. Professor Iqbal emphasized that sustaining momentum will require political stability to shield the country from global uncertainties and to keep progress on track toward the three trillion economy target.

To reach the three trillion economy goal, he called for concrete action to boost exports, strengthen technological capacity, and prioritize the energy sector so that industrial and domestic needs are met reliably. He stressed that investments in green infrastructure and decisive measures to tackle the environmental crisis must go hand in hand with economic expansion.

Professor Iqbal also highlighted the need to elevate health and social development as foundational elements of growth, noting that a healthy, skilled workforce is essential for Pakistan’s competitiveness. He said this integrated approach will prepare the country for future jobs and industrial markets while ensuring robust and sustainable national growth.
