Karachi marked World Children’s Day with the launch of special UNICEF x Pakkay Dost episodes of Bachpan Bemisaal, a series spotlighting early childhood development, play, nutrition and care. The event brought together creators, policymakers, families and children to celebrate the critical early years and the role of nurturing environments in Pakistan.

Hosted by Sanam Saeed, the programme featured an engaging conversation between creator Bilal Maqsood and UNICEF’s ECD Manager Dr. Saba Shuja, who discussed the creative and technical journey behind Bachpan Bemisaal and the series’ focus on child development messages suited for Pakistani families. Attendees saw screenings of new clips and songs that underline playful learning and nutrition for young children.

The room filled with laughter and applause as children and parents reacted to the new episodes, sharing heartfelt remarks about relatable stories and practical caregiving tips. Organisers emphasised how accessible, locally relevant content like Bachpan Bemisaal can support caregivers and promote healthy early childhood practices across Sindh and wider Pakistan.

Child speakers from Sindh offered thoughtful reflections on what every child needs to learn, grow and thrive, with discussions moderated by MPAs Nida Khuhro and Qasim Soomro. Their perspectives highlighted the importance of play, responsive care and proper nutrition as foundations for lifelong learning and wellbeing.

The first episode of the UNICEF x Pakkay Dost collaboration is now live on the Pakkay Dost YouTube channel. Families and educators are encouraged to watch Bachpan Bemisaal to explore practical ideas for supporting young children’s development at home and in community settings.
