Pak-EPA sampled Rawal Dam water at streams, central point and spillway for chemical and microbiological analysis to ensure Rawal Dam water meets standards.

On 27 November 2025 the Pak-EPA NEQS Laboratory Team carried out targeted sampling at the Water Filtration Plant at Rawal Dam and at multiple strategic points across the reservoir to assess Rawal Dam water quality and verify compliance with national standards.

Field teams collected samples from three feeding streams — Korang Stream, Lake Viewpoint Stream and Jinnah Stream — as well as from a central point within the dam and a location at the spillway, ensuring coverage of inflows, the reservoir body and outflow areas that influence water treatment operations in Islamabad.

Both deep-water and surface-water samples were obtained to provide a full profile for laboratory testing. The specimens will undergo comprehensive chemical and microbiological analysis at the CLEAN lab of Pak-EPA to detect any contaminants and to confirm whether Rawal Dam water meets the limits set by national regulations.

Pak-EPA reiterated its ongoing commitment to regular monitoring and safeguarding of water resources to protect public health and the surrounding environment, and said results from the CLEAN lab will inform any necessary follow-up actions to maintain safe water quality for Islamabad and adjacent communities.
