The District Health Officer attended the second consultative meeting on developing post-pregnancy family planning at the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation & Coordination in Islamabad. The session gathered ministry officials and technical partners to finalise implementation strategies for the federating areas, with particular focus on the Islamabad Capital Territory.
UNFPA and IPAS facilitated the discussions, guiding participants through the details of proposed interventions and activities to strengthen family planning services. The meeting concentrated on converting policy direction into actionable steps for post-pregnancy care across public health facilities in the ICT.
The DHO emphasised coordinated implementation at facility and community levels to ensure continuity of care after childbirth. Attention was given to workforce capacity, service linkages, and monitoring arrangements necessary to deliver quality Family Planning services in the federating areas.
Outcomes from this consultative session will inform the next phase of work between the ministry and partner organisations as they finalise timelines and roll-out plans for post-pregnancy family planning across Islamabad.
