Muneeza Butt led a UMT Lahore roundtable to advance strategies for ending digital violence against women and girls across Pakistan.

Muneeza Manzoor Butt, District Women Protection Officer Multan, spoke at a roundtable held at the University of Management and Technology Lahore to address the growing challenge of digital violence against women and girls. The session focused on practical steps to recognise, prevent and respond to online abuse, with an emphasis on protections tailored to Pakistan’s social and legal context.

The event was organised as an initiative by Ahsan Kamray, a Presidential Award holder, human rights and youth activist, and founder and CEO of Opportunity Club. His initiative brought together activists, educators and policymakers to create a collaborative space for strengthening digital safety and accountability.

During the discussion Muneeza Manzoor Butt shared insights into the mechanisms needed to protect women and girls in the digital sphere, highlighting the importance of accessible reporting channels, digital literacy, survivor-centered support and coordinated institutional response. Participants described the conversation as impactful and empowering, noting the need to translate ideas into local practice.

The roundtable included representatives from the Government of Punjab Social Welfare, Special Education & Women Empowerment Department, stakeholders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and partners from UNFPA Pakistan, UNESCO, UNDP and UN Women Pakistan. Prominent figures including Hina Parvez Butt attended, underscoring cross-sector commitment to tackling digital violence and strengthening protections for women and girls nationwide.
