UNICEF and Telenor Pakistan showcase digital safety progress with Disrupting Harm II findings to advance child protection, skills and national policy.

UNICEF and Telenor Pakistan convened partners including the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the National Commission on the Rights of the Child (NCRC Pakistan) and National CERT Pakistan to celebrate progress and the partnerships now driving digital safety for children.

Speakers and partners highlighted advances in building stronger digital skills for children and caregivers, widespread awareness campaigns that have reached millions, and important steps taken to strengthen protection systems. The focus on practical digital safety measures for families and schools was emphasised throughout the discussions.

Children took part by sharing their own awareness activities and demonstrating how they practise safe and responsible online behaviour. Those youth-led examples were presented as evidence that digital safety initiatives are already having an impact at community level and helping to build confidence among young users.

The event also previewed preliminary findings from the upcoming Disrupting Harm II study, which stakeholders said will inform stronger laws, better policies and a coordinated national action plan. Officials and civil society representatives underlined the need to translate research insights into concrete policy and institutional change to improve protection across Pakistan.

The commitment from all partners is clear: sustained investment in digital safety is essential so every child can explore the online world safely, confidently and without harm. Continued collaboration between government agencies, the private sector and child rights bodies will be key to maintaining momentum and scaling impact.
