Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) and Shaikh Zayed Hospital Lahore have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand access to free cochlear implants for deserving children. The signing took place at the hospital auditorium in Lahore with senior officials, medical experts and media representatives in attendance.
Under the agreement PBM will fund eligible low-income children who require cochlear implant surgery, while Shaikh Zayed Hospital will deliver specialised surgical, diagnostic and rehabilitative services through its ENT and audiology teams. The collaboration is structured to ensure coordinated care from assessment through post-operative rehabilitation.
The partnership aims to reduce the financial burden on families and enable children with profound hearing loss to receive timely, life-changing treatment. Officials described the initiative as a practical step toward inclusive healthcare and strengthened social protection for vulnerable households in the province.
