A Traffic Awareness session at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi brought together students, faculty and staff to reinforce road safety norms and responsible driving. The event featured detailed talks by senior traffic officials aimed at cultivating a culture of discipline on the roads.
Syed Khalid Hamdani, City Police Officer Rawalpindi, and Farhan Aslam, Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi, addressed the campus and explained practical steps for obeying traffic laws, the importance of traffic discipline and the role young drivers play in reducing accidents. Both officers stressed that adherence to traffic rules can save lives and is essential for a safer urban environment.
To make it easier for the university community to comply with legal requirements, an on-site driving license facility was established at the campus so students and staff could apply for or renew licences without travelling to external offices. The availability of this service was highlighted as a key convenience for young motorists and commuters.
An interactive quiz on traffic rules engaged participants and rewarded correct answers with safety helmets, a tangible reminder of the importance of wearing protective gear while riding motorcycles. The activity underlined the session’s practical focus on prevention and safety equipment.
The university administration thanked the Rawalpindi Police for their cooperation and active participation, acknowledging the value of continued collaboration between educational institutions and law enforcement in promoting road safety among youth and the wider community.
