The Municipal Labour Union in Rawalpindi organised a dignified Christmas ceremony attended by a wide cross section of the city’s political and social leadership alongside numerous corporation employees. Speakers offered warm greetings to the Christian community and highlighted the spirit of tolerance and brotherhood that persists across Pakistan.
Former Rawalpindi Mayor Sardar Naseem, Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Daniyal Chaudhry, MNA Malik Abrar, Ziaullah Shah, Raja Hanif Advocate, Haji Parvez, Pirzada Rahat Qudusi, Javed Mughal and Raja Haroon were among the notable guests who took part in the event. Father Shahid Raza represented the clergy, while Municipal Labour Union office-bearers including Arshad Khan, Malik Ghazanfarullah, Sufi Fayyaz, Tariq Yusuf, Changiz Bhatti, Nisar Kiani, Abdul Waheed, Zaka Haider Shah, Raja Danish Abbasi, Shahid Khan, Choudhry Fakhr, Raja Naveed Khan, Malik Usman, Shan Chida and Zeeshan Akbar attended along with a large number of corporation staff.
Speakers praised the Christian community for its contributions to the country’s progress and reaffirmed that people of all faiths in Pakistan live together with goodwill and mutual respect. The sentiment of unity was a recurring theme as organisers and guests extended heartfelt Christmas greetings.
During his address Parliamentary Secretary Daniyal Chaudhry offered felicitations to the Christian community and announced that a hospital would be established in Rawalpindi to ensure access to quality and modern medical care for the community. The pledge was welcomed by union leaders and attendees as a meaningful step toward improving local healthcare services.
Municipal Labour Union President Raja Haroon and General Secretary Father Shahid Raza expressed sincere appreciation to Parliamentary Secretary Daniyal Chaudhry for the hospital announcement, underlining the importance of such initiatives for social welfare and inclusion.
The ceremony concluded with a communal cake cutting and prayers for peace, development and prosperity across the country, reflecting a shared commitment to harmony in Rawalpindi. The event reinforced the Municipal Labour Union’s role in promoting civic solidarity during national and religious occasions.
