Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication Ms. Ayesha Raza Farooq visited the Emergency Operations Center in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to assess the ongoing polio vaccination campaign and receive a situational briefing from the EOC KP team.
During the visit EOC KP Coordinator Mr. Shafiullah Khan outlined the current operational picture, including Day 2 campaign progress in Peshawar and overall performance on Day 3 across the province, with details on field implementation, coverage status and other key operational updates. The briefing highlighted areas where intensified efforts are needed to sustain campaign momentum.
Ms. Ayesha Raza Farooq stressed the importance of effective supervision, strong coordination and timely decision-making to ensure that no child is missed during the drive. She underlined that focused oversight at field level and swift management actions are central to achieving the goals of the Polio Eradication programme.
She praised the dedication of frontline polio workers, supervisors and EOC staff who conduct outreach under challenging conditions to protect children from lifelong disability. The visit acknowledged the long hours and sacrifices made by teams on the ground and called for continued support to sustain their efforts.
The focal person also called for strengthened community engagement, enhanced field monitoring and improved inter-departmental coordination to meet campaign targets. Reinforcing government commitment to a polio-free Pakistan, she urged local authorities and partners to accelerate measures that increase coverage and close immunity gaps.
Ms. Ayesha Raza Farooq reaffirmed that collective efforts, clear accountability and sustained focus are essential to interrupt poliovirus transmission in KP and across the country, emphasizing that coordinated action at provincial and district levels will be key to success.
