On November 19, 2025 the faculty and students of the Department of Fine Arts visited the Pakistan National Council of Arts in Islamabad to view the Aatish exhibition by ceramic artist Nabahat Lotia.
The Aatish exhibition, inspired by nature, presented works that reflect more than three decades of artistic exploration and collaboration with traditional potters across Pakistan. The display emphasised the transformative beauty of fire through clay and showcased techniques rooted in regional craft traditions.
The visit offered students a valuable learning experience, allowing them to study material, form and process in person and to observe how ceramic art can bridge contemporary practice and indigenous pottery skills. Faculty members guided students through close readings of the pieces and discussed the artistic and cultural significance of Nabahat Lotia’s work.
By engaging with the Aatish exhibition at PNCA, participants gained practical insight into ceramic art and cultural collaboration that enriches arts education in Islamabad and beyond.
