Gharib Nawaz Urs Held in Rawalpindi This December

Gharib Nawaz Urs in Rawalpindi will run Dec 25-27 2025 with Quran recitation, naat, sama and special dua for the nation. Join devotees from across Pakistan.

The annual Gharib Nawaz Urs at Dargah-e-Ala Gulshan-e-Sultan-ul-Hind Ajmeri in Rawalpindi will be observed from 4 to 6 Rajab al-Murajjab, corresponding to December 25, 26 and 27, 2025. Devotees from across Pakistan have begun arriving to pay respects and participate in the three-day programme that honours Khawaja Gharib Nawaz Chishti Ajmeri.

Organisers have confirmed that the ceremonies will take place under the presidency of Sajada Nashin Sheikh al-Mashaikh Hazrat Diwan Syed Al Habib Ali Khan. Supervision of event arrangements will be carried out by Pizada Syed Al Wajihah Maini Ajmeri, the appointed deputy and heir to the Ajmer Sharif custodianship, while Bazm-e-Mainiha Chishtiya Rawalpindi and its members will provide on-ground services as in previous years.

The first two sessions of the Gharib Nawaz Urs on 4 and 5 Rajab, which fall on Thursday and Friday after Isha prayer, will feature Quran recitation, the traditional Khatm Khawajgan-e-Chisht, mehfil-e-naat, speeches by religious scholars and spiritual sama gatherings. These evening programmes are expected to draw large local participation and visiting scholars from different regions of the country.

On 6 Rajab, corresponding to Saturday, December 27, 2025, proceedings will begin with the ceremonial chadar poshi at the dargah at 9:00 am followed by further Quran recitation, naat performances, addresses and sama. The closing day will include a special congregational dua at 1:00 pm led by Sajada Nashin Diwan Syed Al Habib Ali Khan for the stability of the Muslim Ummah and the wellbeing of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

After the noon prayer, attendants and visitors will be served langar and the Urs festivities will formally conclude. The organisers have extended an open invitation to the public and noted that security and crowd arrangements are in place to facilitate the steady arrival of pilgrims throughout the three days.

The Gharib Nawaz Urs in Rawalpindi continues to be a focal spiritual event for followers of the Chishti silsila and the wider community, offering recitation, devotional poetry and communal prayers that reflect the shrine’s long-standing traditions.
