Karachi, December 23, 2025: Alibaba.com, a leading global B2B e-commerce platform, has concluded its 2025 New Power Award in Hangzhou, China, with a Pakistani export company, Impex Pakistan, securing a place among the Global Top 20 finalists.WhatsApp Image 2025 12 24 at 1.27.55 PM

Often described as the “Oscars of Digital Trade,” the New Power Award recognises B2B exporters and suppliers who demonstrate strong export performance, digital innovation, and effective use of technology in global trade. For the first time, the competition was opened to sellers from across the world.

Impex Pakistan was recognised for its innovative use of artificial intelligence, described as an “AI Commander” approach, which has helped transform a traditional stone and Himalayan pink salt export business into a technology-driven global operation.

The final round of the 4th New Power Award was held on December 22, 2025, in Hangzhou. The event featured debate-style discussions among finalists on key challenges facing exporters, including the role of artificial intelligence, scaling business operations, team agility, and global expansion strategies.

Haider Ali, Chief Executive Officer of Impex Pakistan, represented Pakistan at the global finals. He shared his experience of shifting a centuries-old trade into a digital-first business through Alibaba.com. According to Ali, the company secured its first export container order within weeks of adopting an online strategy, which led to rapid international growth.

To manage expansion, the company integrated Alibaba.com’s AI-powered Smart Assistant to automate routine tasks such as product optimisation and buyer communication across time zones. This allowed a small team to operate more efficiently and reach buyers in over 30 countries.

Ali said that technology should support human decision-making rather than replace it, adding that artificial intelligence helps businesses improve efficiency and competitiveness in global markets. He noted that nearly 60 per cent of the company’s revenue now comes through Alibaba.com.

Alibaba.com officials said the New Power Award has become a global platform for exchanging ideas on the future of digital trade. Shawn Yang, General Manager for Global Development at Alibaba.com, said the platform aims to support exporters worldwide by sharing proven B2B practices and helping businesses expand beyond local markets.

The recognition of Impex Pakistan highlights the growing role of Pakistani small and medium enterprises in international e-commerce and the increasing use of digital tools to access global trade opportunities.
